Tomintoul

At 345m Tomintoul is the highest village in Britain and lies on the A939 roughly midway between Strathdon and Grantown on Spey.  The A939 between Cockbridge and Tomintoul is usually the first road in Scotland to be blocked by snow when winter closes in.

Tomintoul's fortunes are closely tied to the development of the ski centre at The Lecht, five miles south east of the village and also the Glenlivet Distillery seven miles north.  In the village itself there is a small store with Post Office, a bank, doctors surgery and a public library.

The Association has recently completed a development of three 1 and 2 bedroom flats and two 3 bedroom houses. The properties represent the first Social Housing in the area for a generation, and have been warmly welcomed by the community. The development includes special provision for a local family with significant special needs.
