Long Serving Chairman Steps Down
Long Serving Chairman Steps Down
At Langstane's Annual General Meeting, held on 20th September 2005, the Association's Chairman delivered his last Chairman's Report before stepping down. Forbes, a University Lecturer by profession, had occupied the Chair for five years, the maximum period allowed in the Association's rules. Although he is no longer Chair, he is continuing membership of the Committee of Management, which he joined almost twenty years ago. His Report, the full text of which can be found on this website, showed that the Association is facing a period of considerable activity in development and in management, and he indicated his confidence that Langstane has the resources and the experience to rise to any challenges, and continue to expand.
Forbes's successor as Chairman is Paul Hannan, MBE. Paul has held the office of Vice Chairman for the last four years. His "day job" is Chief Executive of Aberdeen Cyrenians, one of Langstane's oldest and most important partner organisations.
The Annual General Meeting was held in Aberdeen's Westburn Lounge, and attended by around forty members, tenants and guests. The guest speaker was Councillor Anne Robertson, Convener of Housing and Social Work of Aberdeenshire Council, who spoke of the importance of the strong links between the Council and the local Associations, including Langstane.
