Developing Accommodation for Voluntary Groups in Inverurie

Many voluntary groups in Inverurie have problems with accommodation and it is hoped that an imminent meeting will help progress a solution. The meeting follows research of local voluntary organisations' accommodation needs and aspirations, and will provide the opportunity to hear about the research and to discuss and agree possible opportunities to pursue. The research was jointly commissioned by Langstane Housing Association, Aberdeenshire Council and Gordon Rural Action.

The research showed that .......

  • There is a high level of interest in voluntary groups sharing accommodation
  • The wide range of needs means that finding a solution may be complex
  • Desire from some groups for a town centre location will be difficult to satisfy because high commercial property values in Inverurie are outwith the budgets of voluntary groups
  • A purpose built property may be the best solution but property values may make a central location difficult

The meeting will take place at The Day Care Centre, Port Road, Inverurie (behind Mitchells Dairy) on Monday 9 May between 3pm - 5pm, and is open to all parties interested in the development of accommodation for voluntary groups in Inverurie.
