Tenant Assessors Wanted
Are you interested in getting involved in Communities Scotland inspection of landlords, as a volunteer?
Inspection is a way of making sure social landlords (i.e. councils and housing associations) are well run, accountable to their tenants and other service users and are continually improving their services.
Tenant assessors are volunteers who join Communities Scotland inspection teams to bring a service user's perspective to the inspection of registered social landlords and the housing management functions of councils.
As a tenant assessor you will be involved in a range of aspects of inspection, including meetings with staff and tenants; carrying out reality checks on-site; and reviewing the content and quality of information that tenants receive from their landlord.
Tenant assessors are involved on a voluntary basis (all expenses are paid). Tenants will not be able to participate in the inspection of their own landlord.
Communities Scotland is enrolling now with the aim of training tenant assessors ready for inspections in summer 2005. Communities Scotland strives for diversity in their pool of tenant assessors and welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals.
