Charlottee Gardens friends and neighbours remember John Davidson.

A MEMORIAL bench has been dedicated to a much-loved man known as the Gentle Giant. John Davidson, 41, collapsed and died in his Aberdeen flat at the end of June.

John had lived in Charlotte Gardens, for the last six years. He had contracted meningitis as a baby, and he suffered epilepsy and had learning difficulties.

After being approached by John's neighbours Langstane Housing Association have provided a granite bench in John's memory.

His aunt Patricia Ewen said: "The family are deeply touched that John's friends and neighbours would do this. They must have thought he was a very special man - as indeed he was. "John loved life and loved his family and friends. He would have been so proud something like this was done in his memory."

Jane Shaw, of the Inspire charity, which supported John, said: "He was a very kind, very caring man who  meant a great deal to the people who knew him."
