Archway is an independent Aberdeen based charity offering a range of community based services to improve the opportunities available and quality of life for people with learning disabilities in Aberdeen and throughout the North East area.
Archway began in 1983 when a group of parents and carers of children and adults with learning disabilities got together to look into the possibility of developing a respite service. In the 1980’s Archway was the first carer-led charity in Aberdeen to champion the provision of respite services and since then the organisation has developed into an innovative and exciting charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with learning disabilities. They remain parent led to ensure that those who use their services have a real say in how and what is delivered.
Archway currently supports nearly 200 children and adults with learning disabilities through its respite, shared and permanent care services.
The Association provides a property offering 12 bed spaces in Aberdeen and also provides a repair/maintenance service at other rented Archway properties.
“Our Westburn Road service has been open 25 years this year and some of our residents moved in when it first opened”.
