Beware: Covid Scam

The recent rise in Covid cases has led to a surge in reports of scam text messages which appear to have been sent by the NHS and say you have been a close contact of someone who has tested positive for Covid. You are asked to click on a link to pay for a test kit.

Links in these messages lead to a cloned NHS website which asks for your contact and payment details.

How to Avoid

NHS Scotland WILL NOT ask you to pay to take a test or to provide any financial details.

From 1 May, most people in Scotland no longer need to test for coronavirus. However, if you are eligible, tests are still free to order from the NHS online (www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests) or by phoning 119.

Don't click on any links in unexpected text messages. If you do click on a link, do not provide bank or security details.
