HRH Prince William visits Langstane Housing Association

A day in the office that I don’t think any of us will forget anytime soon…

We were absolutely delighted to welcome HRH The Prince of Wales to Langstane this week as part of the Homewards programme. It was a real privilege to showcase the work happening here in Aberdeen to support people at risk of homelessness.

The programme, founded by Prince William in 2023, is built on a simple but ambitious belief that together, we can make homelessness rare, brief and unrepeated. Now over halfway through its five year mission, Homewards is demonstrating what’s possible when partners work together locally. Through pilot projects, it’s helping people move into and sustain stable homes and employment, while also building systems that identify risk earlier and step in before issues escalate.

In true hands on fashion, The Prince got stuck in straight away, helping move furniture, carrying chairs upstairs and putting together welcome packs full of essentials to help turn a flat into a home. It’s these small but meaningful touches that make such a difference for our tenants as they settle in.

One of the most impactful parts of the visit was seeing him take the time to speak directly with tenants, hearing about their experiences and how they’re getting on. Those conversations really matter.

This project is a true partnership effort, and we’re incredibly proud to be part of something that’s making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

A brilliant (and slightly surreal!) day for everyone involved at Langstane.
