In June 2022 Langstane Housing Association announced their participation in the Queen's Green Canopy initiative to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. Tenants and customers were invited to vote for their community to be the home of the jubilee tree.
The winning neighbourhood was Pennan Way in Ellon. The lucky tenant who nominated Pennan Way said they thought the jubilee tree “would be something that could be planted in the neighbourhood to brighten up the area and it would be appreciated by all of the residents who live there."
Langstane Housing Association now joins families, schools and community groups from across the country who have already planted over a million trees in more than 6500 locations.
