Suicide Prevention Day - Wednesday 10 September 2025

Suicide Prevention Day is on Wednesday, 10 September 2025.

Suicide remains the leading cause of death for people aged 35 and under in the UK. For too long, stigma and silence have stood in the way of reaching those in crisis. Now is the time to shift the narrative—to speak up, share hope, and show that nobody has to face their struggles alone.

The theme this year is 'Changing the Narrative on Suicide.' The aim is to move away from the silence and stigma that often surround suicide and instead encourage openness, empathy, and support through honest and meaningful conversations.

If you are feeling suicidal or are worried about someone else, please know that help is available:

  • Talk to your GP for support
  • Call Samaritans – 116 123 (open 24/7)
  • Call Breathing Space – 0800 83 85 87 (24 hours weekends, 6pm–2am weekdays)
  • NHS 24 Mental Health Hub – Call 111
  • Contact Papyrus HOPELINE (young people) – 0800 068 4141
  • If you or someone is in immediate danger, call 999
